Andrew Vanderschoor

Andrew Vanderschoor is a Sydney based artist.

In the 1970’s, as a child, Andrew was inspired to create art by a visit he had from his father’s European cousin, John Vanderschoor, a drifter of the world who created Indian ink drawings, which he sold in the local market, enabling him to buy a plane ticket to disappear onto his next destination. Andrew has been actively creating from that point in time.

The adventurous lifestyle and creativeness from John Vanderschoor, has been Andrew’s creative driving force for life and in his own works, he jumps around different medians, with the ethos of, life is short go as hard as you can.

His main focus is on landscape painting, sculpture and printmaking and having grown up in Tasmania and spending his life travelling around Australia, he uses the Australian landscape and nature as a baseline for his artworks. Andrew really loves participating in the creative process rather than the end result.

Andrew has had the opportunity to spend time with many Australian artists who have invested in his artistic development. He has had the privilege of participating in many combined exhibitions, as well as a few solo exhibitions and conducting community art workshops.

In 2018 Andrew won the Fishers Ghost Art Award Traditional section.
